What accessories are available for bin boxes?
BIO Stefan's accessories cover four needs: locking and securing, fastening firmly, making everyday use more convenient, and improving your box instead of buying a new one. All items come directly from BIO Stefan and are designed to fit its own boxes. The size-dependent parts are available for both 120- and 240-liter bins.
For security, there is the key lock and the hammer-in anchor. The connecting chain and the reinforcement plate make everyday use easier. For organization and appearance, there is the shelf, the magnetic signs, and the touch-up paint pen. If you have a planter roof, you can add the drainage system.
A large part of the accessories is designed for the Dagobert because it offers the most retrofitting options. The Stahlfred and Holzmichl already come with a chain and central lock from the factory, so you do not need to buy them separately.
Retrofit lock for the garbage bin box
An open garbage area invites strangers to dispose of their waste at your property. That is exactly what the key lock for the Dagobert is designed to prevent: only those with the key can access the bin. One set contains two locks with keys, so you can lock both the lid and the door.
Important when retrofitting: The lock fits Dagobert boxes from model year 2023 onward. It is not suitable for older Dagobert models from before 2023. Before ordering, check which year your box is from.
You do not need a retrofit part for the Stahlfred or Holzmichl, as both come with a central lock for the lid and door as standard. Securing a garbage bin box: hammer anchors for concrete and asphalt
If the box is freestanding and exposed to drafts, strong winds can shift it. The BIO Stefan impact anchor anchors it in hard surfaces such as concrete or asphalt. It is a galvanized M6 anchor bolt for time-saving through-bolt installation in uncracked concrete.
Technical specifications: Plug length 67 mm or 97 mm, installation depth 39 to 44 mm, maximum clamping thickness 20 mm or 50 mm respectively, thread M6x30 or M6x35, tightening torque 8 Nm.
How many do you need? A maximum of three anchors makes sense per individual box: one on the back wall and two in the front rail. For a 3 boxes box, you therefore need up to nine. One anchor bolt is supplied at a time, so order the quantity accordingly. To secure the front side, use plugs with countersunk screws as stated on the product page.

Connection chain: linking the bin lid and box lid
Without a chain, you need two steps: first lift the box lid, then the bin lid. The connection chain links both, so the bin lid opens automatically when you lift the box lid.
The chain is a long-link round chain with a 3 mm diameter, made of plastic. It is supplied long and shortened to the correct length on site, depending on whether a 120-litre or 240-litre bin is placed underneath. The hook is attached to the bin lid, and the carabiner is adjustable. You need one chain per box compartment, so a 4-box unit requires four.

The magnetic signs are specified for Dagobert, Stahlfred, and Goldene Eiche; they adhere to the sheet-steel door. On the aluminum Alubert, they are glued on; the adhesive is not included. They are not listed for Holzmichl with a spruce wood front. The nail anchor is selected based on the substrate, not the model: it is intended for concrete and asphalt. The touch-up pen is chosen based on the substrate and is available in ten RAL colors.
Drainage for the planted roof
A planted roof needs a way for excess water to drain away. Otherwise, moisture collects in the substrate and the roots rot. The drainage system for the Dagobert solves this with two components.
Drainage mat: 8 mm thick dimpled membrane that drains up to 4.5 l/m²/s and is delivered cut to size.
Perforated sheet: 1 mm thick galvanized steel sheet with 3 mm perforations that covers the mat and supports the substrate.
Durability: Both parts are UV-resistant and rot-resistant, so they remain durable outdoors.

Organization and labeling: Insert shelf and magnetic signs
Insert shelf: Space above the bin often goes unused. The insert shelf turns it into a compartment for road salt, grit or small gardening items. It is simply inserted, with no modifications required. It is available for Dagobert 120 l and 240 l, as well as for Stahlfred and Holzmichl in the same sizes, with one shelf per box unit.
Magnetic labels: So that family members and neighbours know which flap to use, the original magnetic labels are available in six versions: Yellow, general waste in black, paper in red, paper in blue, organic waste in green and organic waste in brown. They are made of sturdy, single-sided magnetic film with printed graphics, have a glossy, easy-to-clean surface and can be removed at any time. If the municipality changes its waste separation system, simply replace the label.
Improve instead of buying new: Reinforcement plate and touch-up pen
Reinforcement plate: If the door swings back and forth when opening and closing, the reinforcement plate strengthens it from the inside. It is attached to the inside of the door with screws, thereby minimizing vibrations. It comes in RAL 7016. Since it is mounted inside, it is unobtrusive with any box color. Suitable for the Dagobert models in 120 l and 240 l; one plate is required per box, so a 240-4-box requires four plates.
Touch-up pen: A scratch from the lawn mower or bicycle is no reason to buy a new door. The paint touch-up pen in the matt deluxe finish is a fast-drying acrylic paint with high coverage and good flow, suitable for indoor and outdoor use. It can be applied to wood, metal, zinc, aluminium and hard PVC. It is available in ten shades: RAL 7016 Anthracite, 7035 Light Grey, 9005 Black, 9006 Silver, 8017 Brown, 7045 Telegrey, 9007 Grey Aluminium, 9016 Traffic White, 9010 Pure White and 9001 Cream.
